Experience the thrill of a 40 to 60 second freefall! After approximately twenty minutes of instruction, you will make a freefall skydive from 10,000 to 13,000 feet with your tandem master. Capture this event on video! Details below. ACCELERATED FREEFALL This training method is called "Accelerated Freefall" (AFF) because the learning process is three to five times faster than with the traditional static line progression program. The AFF method is designed to provide concentrated, individualized instruction for the student who is seriously interested in becoming a skydiver. It also can be used with any first jump student, even those who simply want to make one jump. Although ambitious in nature, this program has been carefully and systematically developed. It uses the skills, techniques, and equipment that have evolved with modern skydiving. On the first jump in the AFF method, the student is shown stability and has the opportunity to practice it with direct assistance and within a larger time frame that with other methods. You may experience sensory overload the same as with other methods, but have the time to overcome it. It usually takes about five seconds. Then the student makes three practice pulls and the actual ripcord pull (direct assistance is provided when necessary). More learning takes place in fewer jumps, with less exposure to opening and landing risks. Student progress through the seven levels of this program depends upon the student's individual learning pace and not on an arbitrary number of jumps. The program is structured so that satisfactory performance at one level is necessary for advancement to the next. During the first three levels, the student learns and develops basic survival skills. These include the ability to exit correctly, freefall with stability and control, maintain awareness, use instruments, and open the parachute. The student practices and developes these skills through intensive ground training and direct, in the air supervision.
